A custom intuitive Android application
In need of an application
As a prominent energy operator in the Netherlands, Enexis understands the criticality of avoiding mistakes. One of their essential services is conducting regular inspections of multiple gas control lines, known as B-inspections. During these inspections, engineers utilise various tools, including gas measurement cases, to obtain readings which are often recorded manually. Unfortunately, this process is – naturally – prone to human error. Therefore, Enexis sought a solution in the form of an app that could address all the challenges associated with B-inspections and minimise the likelihood of mistakes.
Consulting the right way
After multiple brainstorming sessions, Tuple was able to consult Enexis properly and ensured that everyone was on the same page. All parties were aligned and motivated to achieve the main goal - developing an Android application which has to work seamlessly with their systems for engineers to use during B-inspections, where the risk of human error is eliminated.

From prototyping to live testing
This project can be summarized into four different phases. Phase 1 involved building a prototype that could retrieve a single value. In Phase 2, the team investigated which other data needed to be fetched. Phase 3, we focused on UX/UI design for a complete version of the app that would be truly useful for engineers during B-inspections. The fourth and final phase of the project focused on publishing the app and conducting live testing, which was carried out by our team and the engineers themselves - a critical component of the development process.

We are pleased to announce that all parties involved in the project are more than satisfied with the outcome - a fully functional Android application that guides engineers through B-inspections and automatically communicates various variables and values. This significantly reduces the risk of human error, making the app a reliable tool for Enexis.
Throughout this project, Tuple was thrilled to take on the role of app development lead and oversee app planning, UI/UX design, full app management, and live testing on location.
